In this story a village priest in the French Pyrenees reaches back almost a thousand years to the Cathar heresy which flourished in his region for the text of a scolding sermon.  A man is missing from his congregation.  The cleric’s probing search for foul play leads him to a different kind of moral contagion, this one spread by electronic signals from America that fall from the sky and supply a brothel where plastic substitutes for flesh.
