A new Bible college in the Virginia Piedmont is training home-schooled Christians for careers in the several branches of government and the media. Bright, attractive and very successful in debate, its students seem limited only by a collective certainty that the world was created in six twenty-four hour days some 6,000 years ago. Men and women of strong IQ may enroll with a pledge of belief in a Biblical world view. For the women the post-collage career may be short since the path prescribed for them leads to marriage as submissive helpmates. Professors who would stray from biblically founded truth need not apply. Some did and are gone. Into this orthodoxy comes the fictional Heather, way bright, a lady of independent persuasion, looser habit, and mysterious beauty, a cruel provocation for one unfortunate scholar.
